Default ID 32 V8 camshaft?

I have a couple of cams that I took out of 32 blocks. On is a cast with a very narrow casting line. The other one is machined all over. I don’t think it was done for lifter clearance. The machined one has the early fine tooth sprocket and the cast one has the later sprocket. Both are press on. Both engines had been rebuilt long ago.
I hope one of them is the correct 32 cam but I have no idea how to ID them.

They weren't cast, so you can put that one aside.

Were they machined all over like a billet cam?

That's how they were manufactured, machined from a billet. It was a very costly and wasteful way to make a camshaft, but rare is one with excess wear.

Probably find its a 'steel' cam.

yes, the fully machined one is a steel billet cam. Try this; hang it off of the rear oil pump drive gear with your fingers, and tap it with a wrench. It'll ring like a bell. Beautiful!! All cast iron cams, when tapped have a dead note.
