Default electric fuel pump for 6 volt v8 flathead positive ground

My fuel pump died, bought a new one and still Not pumping. I checked the line and it is not clogged. I'm considering an electric fuel pump. I see summit has a Airtex 6v pump.
My question is will work on a positive ground system? Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks for your help

I'm not sure if polarity matters on the pump, my guess would be it doesn't. But no reason to not wire it up with the correct polarity, the (+) terminal on the pump would connect to ground and the (-) terminal would connect to power. That should keep the electrons happy.

Works perfectly on my '47 6v with (+) terminal on pump connected to ground and (-) to power.

Rock Auto has Airtex for a reasonable price.

I replaced a bad pump on my 50 a couple of months ago for the same reason, it seems that the diaphragm stretches more than OEM or the arm travel is not as well designed on after market pumps. A friend that has worked a lot on flatheads said to add a piece of leather in the cup of the pump arm, said it would improve pump action.

The Airtex pumps do have a life, albeit reasonable. J. Seery is correct. The 6 volt pumps will work on either a positive or negative ground and his explanation of how to wire it is spot on.

Send the pump to charlie ny for a rebuild with an ethanol safe diaphragm. No need to mess with half-assed fixes.

2x (1) Airtex, and (2) Charlie NY rebuild.

Which idea are you talking about? A electric pump is all that will work on some applications, a lot of people have installed a electric to assist on hot starts. The leather I mentioned was to test the pump action, not a repair. If the leather makes the pump work the arm is not designed correctly as I stated. Everyone has their own ideas how to make things work.

E8902 is the correct Airtex pump for these Fords.

Sadly, my Airtex experience hasn't been as good. Pressure-side fuel leaks around what appears to be a pressed-in female pipe fitting on a new unit. Jack E/NJ
