Default Led Lights

I have seen the A tail light lense with the embedded led chips in the plastic lense. Is anyone embedding light chips in the front headlight lenses?

Default Re: Led Lights

The head lights need to have a beam of light that is projected thru the facetted lens and onto the road. That is why the headlights use a reflector to concentrate the light into a beam.

The tail lights need to be a lighted surface. The tail lights do not project light onto the road, they just light a colored lens.

If you use a clear lens with embedded chips for headlights, you will have a big lens that lights up but no light is being projected onto the road.

There are led "bulbs" that replace the conventional head light bulbs. The reflectors are still being used to collect the light emitted from the "bulb" and concentrate it into a beam, just like with conventional head light bulbs.

Perfect explanation, Chris.

Go to a movie and note the difference between the light from the projector and that from the exit sign.
