Kingpin play
While I had my front end jacked up I noticed that I had some play in my driver's side front wheel. The play appears to be in the kingpin area. I have no movement top and bottom. Just side to side. What do you think the most obvious issue could be? Is there something else I should check before I start to disassemble the kingpin?

Re: Kingpin play
If you have no movement, top to bottom, then the king pins are OK.

Re: Kingpin play
What could be causing side to side play?

Re: Kingpin play
Check the wheel bearings to be sure they aren't too loose.
Check the bolt on the pitman arm. Just a hair loose will give a lost of side play at the wheels. I grab the tires at the top and bottom and try rocking them to check for kingpin wear. BTW, my temporary front end on my 28 has very worn bushings, but steers great. |

Re: Kingpin play
I do not have any play from top to bottom at all. Only when I grab the front and rear position of the tire. I can see the play in the kingpin area when I move the tire.
