Default 1932 Ford Vin

I'm looking at a 1932 Vicky that is showing a vin of BCS 2671. Checking Van Pelt and other info, I cannot make sense of this. What am I missing?

The VIN should be stamped into the top of the left frame rail near the steering. Where are you finding the number you show? I don't recognize the number as a US built vehicle, any idea where the vehicle was made? Note that Van Pelt only shows V8 numbers but it is not a 4 cylinder number either.

Hi; Some states can assign Vin numbers. Oregon assigned numbers began with OR. Newc

What would glass have to do with a vin # on the frame?
I have a 34 roadster that is all original ford running gear & frame but a glass body.

Where are you seeing the VIN, on the title or somewhere on the car?
Sounds like an assigned VIN.

Yes I think it is an "assigned" number. It is all steel. I am trying to get in touch with the owner.

Get a picture of the number if you can, it might point to something else.

Some bodies have a number tag if they were made by an outside contractor like Briggs or Murray. Ford of Canada used prefix CBG and CBQ followed by a 4-digit number for the model B cars ID numbers. The letter F was used in there if it was right hand drive.
