Default 6 volt Generator

As I installed my generator on the generator bracket for my 8ba, I noticed that the generator has two small holes as "options" for the mount. I figure this is for adjusting the depth at which the generator sits to line up belts with different water pump pulleys and crank pulleys.

My question is, can a generator body be drilled to move the generator forward more? If so, how far back can a mounting hole go without changing the "angle" or weight distribution of the generator on the bracket? (Dont want to alter to much where the generator wants to lean forward and break the mount).

Thanks

The two little pin holes are for 6 cylinder and V8...holes could be drilled anywhere, amount of overhang would be a judgement call on a manifold. On an aluminum offset bracket, more would be scary. Those are pretty shaky at best.

Thanks Bruce, I always wondered about why there were 2 little holes.
