Default Gas tank lining

My gas tank rusted out between the tank and the windshield so I got a new one at an auction. I am having it cleaned at a radiator shop but he didn't recommend using a liner because they come loose and are a pain to remove when the start turn loose. Any recommendations

A guy in our club had the shop dip clean his radiator and it came back without the threaded filler. Watch what kind of cleaner they use. I've never had one dip cleaned, and I would never line a tank either.

As Mitch said, a clean tank and never a problem.

He isn't going to emerge it, just put cleaner in it so he doesn't ruin the paint but I'll be sure to warn him. Thanks to all for a very helpful forum.

Price getting a zinc passivate coating inside??? Probably outlast the rest of the car!

I used a po-15 sealer kit on a VW tank years aog, and had no issues, but I've heard of other having problems (I don;t like por-15 based on other problems I've had).

FWIW, we have restored well over 100 tanks using POR15 as the lining and have not heard the first complaint about it dissolving or releasing. I would venture an educated guess that anyone who claims otherwise did not properly install the product.
