Default Gloss of black powdercoated wheels?

How much gloss would you all think would be good on powder coated wheels? Don't want them to really shine more than the black fenders.
The powder coating shop here goes by percentage, like 70 percent gloss etc. What do you guys do on your wheels? Thanks, Tom

High gloss as I believe they were dipped like the fenders.

I did my cabriolet frame in an 80% gloss black, a 70% would have been ok, but almost too flat. For wheels, I have full gloss, but I would not go to less than a 90% on wheels. Sorry, no pics.

Full gloss as wheels take a beating relative to the fenders.

I had mine done full gloss on the recommendation of the contractor doing them. I am certainly not disappointed.

I would go with the high Gloss like Wayne . They will look better that way. A good looking set of wheels really sets the vehicle off and takes the eye off any other small defects that the nit pickers will be looking for. As Mike V says above, the wheels were originally dipped and were very glossy .

My powder coater used high gloss on the wheels that were used to make this chair. I am very happy with the results!

I'm saving junk wheels to make a chair also. I sure like the one just posted by the Hot Rod Grille.

I can't believe what I'm reading!! I can't believe anyone would want less than glasslike gloss!! Under the car doesn't mean sh-t to me anyhow, as I rarely see it's level of gloss.
Just when I think I've heard/seen everything, stuff like this pops up!!! One guy paid a painter extra $$$$'s to paint his Cadillac with an orange peel look, like the new cars come with!!! A friend bought a new truck, only after they threw in a FREE cut & polish.
I think the WORLD is NUTS!!!!!! Only Me & MY DOG are NORMAL--LOL

Correctly done cars don't use powdercoat, of course, but here's the wheel of an A that has won big, everything, over and over again, just for "gloss" reference:

I had my AV8 wheels powder coated black and powder clear coated. Supposed to be more durable and good shine. The shop had just started doing this and I was a guinny pig. It doesn't Look like base-clear,just smooth black.

Beautiful, beautiful but who's gone to get in there and keep those sparkling clean and glossy. My roadster has nice , straight powder coated black wheels but in order to keep them that way I would have to dismount them and go over every square inch on the bench. I don't think that will happen.

Those pointy, green, "static electricity" dusters do a super job & quite quickly! If that's too much work, just paint them DULL DIRT BROWN, or sell the car. Some folks would complain if they were hung with a NEW rope!!

I find that the high pressure washer found at those self service car washes do wonders for getting these spoke wheels clean. The dusters Bill mentioned don't come close to removing anything we have to offer up here.

Most of the time, I just don't worry about it.

Oh, and I have a set of green wheels, a set of straw wheels, and a pair of black ones. They all get dirty just about the same. Haven't tried painting them dirt brown yet, although I have owned several cars that color for that very reason.

I powdercoated a frame on a 1945 Harley and we used 80% gloss as it matched the gloss of the black enamel of that era (had an untouched original 1947 that had been in dark dry storage since 1950. It came out shiny without looking too glassy or plastic looking

Will power coating the wheel cover any pits or anything like that. I sure like that model "a" wheel chair also. He must have a small museum to show this and his cars.

Had my wife's Model T wheels powder coated in hi gloss 6 years ago and was very satisfied with the look. When I got my Model A one of the first things I did was powder coat the wheels and put on new tires. I get good comments on the glossy look.
