Default 32 3 window coupe, stored since 62

I posted this on the HAMB and someone suggested I post here too. Always wanted a 32 and found this in Idaho, purchased by a gentleman when he was in high school in 1960, he worked on it for a couple years and lost interest. It sat until I picked it up last week, moved once in all those years. Someone filled the shell, added juice brakes, removed cowl lights, reverse eye spring, added a 39 trans, newer engine, 36?. It is completely rust free, best floors I've ever seen and is sporting much of it's original green paint with yellow pin striping. Not planning anything radical, different wheels and some bolt on speed stuff, maybe no paint for a while. The seat has the car's serial number written on the underside in pencil, assembly line thing?? Came with lots of parts too. Unfortunately someone hacked a large section of the dash out to add gauges so if you have a stock 3 window dash laying around . Hope you like it.

Awesome find! Have you looked under the passenger side front edge of the seat on the front body crossrail behind the wood floorboard for the Murray body tag? It should still be there, if so, and you're so inclined, post it here:

What are your plans for it?

The hole is for an industrial size heater that was mounted behind the firewall, I think I'll look for a replacement firewall. The tag is there and I will post the #, it's dirty and scratched right on top of the number portion but I'll figure it out. It's a keeper but will have to sell my 63k original 41 Zephyr 3 window to appease the wife. I'm a little car heavy at the moment.

40convert,
Nice score, thanks for sharing! I hope that you didn't pay more than 20K ! I was just up in the Sierra for the last couple weeks , dry camping out on the desert near a very small town named Crowley...about one mile from camp. Well , been camping there on/off for fourty + years. Went up to Mammoth Mtn to do some fishing and stopped at a gas/mechanic station to look at an old truck. A young lad , in his twenties, working there as a mechanic...told me of his recent purchase of a '32 ford 3 window. He said..just cleaned things, gassed it up and ran it ! He stated that he got it out of a garage in a small town named Crowley, just down by the lake of same name! He said that the ole man owner was dying of cancer and wanted to sell. This kid heard of the car from his co worker who worked the night shift. Dam near made me have night mares for a few days...knowing that I was camped within a mile of that car for decades and never heard or knew of it. Yup, they are still out there, but you have to be lucky enough to learn of their presense/whereabouts! Oh, by the way, the kid paid 20K for that complete drivable car.

A nice find. Good that it's relatively complete, and had spares too.

It will be good to see what you do with it.

Mart.

Thanks for the nice comments.
Hardtimes, I don't get your post, doesn't sound like you ever saw this car. Even so sounds like the kid got a good deal but that doesn't make it a barometer for the hobby does it? I bought my 40 convert for 22k, a very nice old restoration, does that mean they're all worth that?

40convert,
Nah, just crying in my beer,eh!
Just saying how LUCKY you and a certain young man were/are...for being able to locate and purchase the most desirable car, for what I consider a steal (at least in this kids case)! The point of my experience, in this instance, is that that car is not easy to 'barn find' even though I spent many a year within a mile of it.
