I'm not Marc, but where did Georgia clay come from in Westminster, SC? And how did "she" go mud boggin' in a church parking lot?

It's a good story, though.

Back on topic ...

TALK to whoever you choose to haul your vehicle.

Whether you have a project car or a concourse level vehicle,
each have value - both dollar & sentimental.

I am 7 miles from the GA line and the red clay here is the same as Georgia's, red and stains like blood. And how? The carriage leaves my home, step 1. Between my home and the church, there is mud, lots of mud here, biblical downpours, and when you drive through it, and get stuck in it...I call that mud boggin'. Step 3 brings me to the paved church parking lot, no mud there! But lots of rain, and the car body is made with marine grade plywood, old marine grade plywood that sucks in water like a sponge. There is still a few ply's left, he will have to strip the top ply from the car and re-do it. If he goes after the shipper for damages, all should be well and he'll have a restored horseless carriage. I forgot to mention that the "woman" driver turned out to be two non English speaking jihadi's just waiting to do what moe hamid put them here to do. Christmas eve, infidel, church parking lot....not worth loosing your head over.

I remember seeing a few if those repro Olds, and they were well built, but I didn't realize they were bringing so much money. I also recall hearing about Arthur Godfrey being involved with them, but never could make sense of that connection.

Fort Campbell, Kentucky also has that red clay and during March and April you can get your combat boots resoled with a 2" thick red clay.

What the OP did to rescue the car is going above & beyond ...

Once the car left his care - he had no obligation.

What he did shows he really cared about the car,
less than the new owner & the hauler that was hired.

Thank you Paul & Steve for the kind words !

Hello Tom, Yes, they were very well built. Godfrey had them on the Today show and they were prizes on Let's Make A Deal...I wonder if they were the deal of the day or Zonk prizes. $1295 shipping included. Capt. Starts of the Jungle Queen tour boat in Fort Lauderdale bought the company from Godfrey. As Jim stated what the buyer said " he needed the drive train for his car" and Tom is correct, 12.5 HP B&S with a 2 speed Foote transaxle, riding mower style....this poor soul is obviously "out of it". I blocked his e-mails a month ago. He called me on 12-7 and I had just came home from the vet, I had to put down my 12+ year old best Buddy, so being in no mood for BS, I told him to leave me alone and hung upon him. His wife stepped into the deal and if it wasn't for her lucidity, I would still have the carriage. The last e-mail I received from her, she was giddy as a school girl, telling me that if her husband can't fit in it, she gets to keep it, and is it hard to drive? Is it reliable? I told her I was happy for her, good luck and thank you.
