I finished up the restoration on my 1931 Tudor. I came across a couple of problems, one easy to fix and one that scares me. A little to much play in the steering wheel, I can fix that easy. The engine vibration is whats scaring me. I have prepared myself for the worst, it shakes the whole car. When it's idling it's not to bad but when you step on the throttle not even moving it vibrates. I have been in a few Model A's and they don't do this. Any ideas what I should be looking for and checking? When I bought the car, I was told the engine runs good so other than a head gasket, I didn't do anything to the engine. I guess thats what happens as a rookie Model A restorer. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Ken, My first suggestion would be to search the archive for this issue. There was a recent post on this very subject. Unfortunately the solution is likely an unbalanced 60+ pound flywheel spinning around and shaking the whole car.. I just drove a 30 coupe to put a new carb in and it shook your teeth out. The owner didn't care. Other components internal to the engine could be the problem. I would suggest that you take off the fan belt and see if that makes any difference. It will isolate the generator and the water pump. Otherwise you are in for an engine removal as far as I can see. Good luck. Jack

Is the front motor mount "snugged" down too tight??

The mounts are not the problem. They are a band aid. Odds are on the flywheel.

Might short out the plugs in sequence to ensure one or more cylinders is not missing.

Thank you all for the sugestions, I will look at everything before pulling the engine. I have a feeling thats whats going to happen. I did check between the flywheel housing and the block and there are no shims there.
