I'll give it a shot....

The first picture shows it routed over the muffler, to a clip on the upper frame rail, then forward under the toe board into the engine compartment.

Inside the engine compartment it just loops back through the firewall.

Once inside the cab there is a d-nut near the firewall hole for another clip, clip is missing in my picture but the nut is there.

Not a good under dash picture but it routes through the hole in the channel under the gas tank to the speedometer.

That extra wire is for the water temp gauge.

My truck was a farm truck....it once had a hot water heater...that is what that patched hole was for...

Does the cable enter the tunnel at the rear where the wiring exits or through the oval cutout ?

Supposed to be through oval cutout with a grommet in the cutout.

I've wondered about that. The picture is old, one I took when I first brought the ccpu home....note the wooden knob on the starter plunger..

Seems I tried to re-route it or maybe just considered doing it.

So does the cable route over the GAV/choke rod or under after it comes through the firewall?

I'll have to get a current picture. it seems to me that my retaining clip in that area is in a different location than 40-A's

Thanks Bob....I went over and took pictures.

Mine is routed like yours.

That extra wire is for the water temp gauge, and the truck used to have a hot water heater where that blocked hole is. The heater was in the engine compartment and the fan blew through that hole. Worked great from what I remember.

My '30 Town Sedan does not have the oval cut out. I the oval cut out only on '28-9 or?
