Default differential gaskets

its recommended to use indian head sealer on differential gaskets. if you are using multiple gaskets, do you just use sealer on the metal mating surfaces of also between the multiple gaskets?

Yes to Indian Head.
Use between gaskets and between gasket and metal parts. Use a very light coat or the gaskets have a tendency to push out when brought up to 35# torque.
Good Day!

I would also reccomend Best Gaskets differential set. The gaskets are not paper and do not shrink. You can buy them at

https://vintagegasket.com/shop/model...int-set-10195/

Once you try them you will never want those crumpled up paper ones.

If you have paper gaskets, and they have shrunk, soak them in your toilet bowl. If it is clean enough for your dog to drink out of, it is clean enough for gaskets! Another thing I did once was to use shrunken V8 gaskets, they worked perfectly in the A!

That would not work with me. Scout would eat the gaskets when he got a drink. LOL

i had to soak the AA gaskets in a tub of water for an hour to get them to be the right size. I think i used black rtv on both sides when joining the halves together. Almost every gasket i use copper coat and let it get tacky like it says before assembling.

I've installed them w/out any type of sealer and no leaks. I hate using gasket sealer unless it's really, really needed.

On another note, I once saw a fellow put a cork valve cover gasket in water to soak/expand and forgot about it 'till the next day, by that time it was way too big to fit.

I put no sealer on the gaskets but lay a small bead of RTV at the mating surface of the center section and the side housings, at the small lip of the side housing.
