Default hot41 flathead

Engine is rebuilt 600 miles on it. 160 thermostats, runs in the 190"s on right bank about 210 - 215 on the left. Everything is new water pumps etc. I am thinking about getting the anti freeze that is supposed to reduce engine temp. I need some advice. Thanks Gary

Did you have the radiator rodded out. Flush out don't do squat. Try running without thermostats then check the temp. Make sure the fan belt tight. You can check timming also.

I use the "Bake" method of cleaning a block, you aldo have to dig allot of sand out of these castings as well. Using this method I've never had a cooling problem. You may have a bad radiator, but that temp is caused by another problem. Skips pumps might help???

Maybe a bad thermostat on one side ? Or the block has more crap in it on the warm side? If it was the rad it would hot on both sides ???

If your over heat is happening at idle or slow speeds your ignition timing could be retarded. It can be set using a vacuum gauge. Adjust until have the highest vac reading. Then back off 1"HG. Having Bubba set the distributor up would be good thing to do. He can set the initial timing and check the advance on a machine. A fan shroud will also help. You need all the air flow you can get while sitting or moving slow.
