Need Help Identifying This Carburetor
What model of Zenith is this? What is the thing protruding down from where the Main Jet would be installed? It has a knurled end on it which appears to be removable as a separate item from the thing hanging down which also appears to be removable. Looking down the throat the Main Jet and the Cap Jet are visible.
Thanks for the help. |

Re: Need Help Identifying This Carburetor
No GAV...I'd guess its for a constant speed governed industrial engine. Zenith's multiple jet design became obsolete rather quickly, emulsion tube carburetors ( marvel schebler style) were cheaper to build and performed better..

Simple answer, it's an old, dirty carb!

Re: Need Help Identifying This Carburetor
I have seen a couple of stock Model A Zeniths that had an aftermarket adjustable jet installed.

Re: Need Help Identifying This Carburetor
Could be a racing accessory carb. Stamped zenith to comply with rules.
A tractor carburetor is more likely. |

When you look down into throat are the main and cap jet staggered or are they lined up with each other? Last edited by Benson; 03-18-2021 at 02:50 PM. |

Re: Need Help Identifying This Carburetor
OK thanks.
At first I thought the carb might be a very early prototype 27 but it does not have the bosses for double venturi pin or pins and you confirmed it does have the staggered Cap and Main jets of the single venturi versions which happened after the Stromberg law suit. Very strange that GAV is missing though. |

Re: Need Help Identifying This Carburetor
Maybe not if it ran at a set speed on a stationary engine.
