Default Please identify thread

I need to re-new the vacuum pipe nipple which screws into the distributor body. Can any Barners identify the thread please? It looks like 3/8x24, or 1/8th NPT, but neither seems quite right.

Much appreciated, Tom.

I know that this doesn't help much, but it is the same as the wiper motor fitting on the intake.

Tom, I think it's 3/8 UNF. (28 tpi is it?) I'm pretty sure I've put a brake pipe fitting in there before now. The correct fitting is a short brass fitting with a sort of tapered olive.

Mart.

Edit: Just went up the garage and a 3/8 UNF bolt screws in nicely. 3/8 UNF is 28tpi - I checked that too.

tom, i believe the correct name for the fitting in question is "double compression nut", i can`t verify the size and thread count. btw, this is the other Tom Walker.

It's 3/8 - 24 for certain. The fitting was a special compression type made exclusively for Ford.

Fair enough - there isn't enough thread length for the pitch error to show up.

Are the fittings available?

Mart.
