Default Rare Sports manifold for flathead

Hi guys, I've come across this manifold dated 1947 and wondered if anyone knows anything about them.

There's one for sale here in NZ at the moment. I think they may be Shuter manifolds. Frank Shuter lived in Christchurch, NZ, and was heavily involved in building high performance flatheads. NZ being NZ, there was little speed gear available, so Frank made his own. Auckland had it's own equivalent in Ron Hogan, maker of twin plug heads amongst other things.

It appears nearly identical to 35-6 intake, with features of both. I would think it is aftermarket, as for high performance??

Why would someone make a manifold that is identical to a '36?

Thanks guys, I have heard of Shuter manifolds and saw a dual one many many years ago, that would also explain the 'S' on the top.

I agree it's a curious beast, as for high performance who knows.

Barnfind, could you post a pic of one of yours, and do you have more information.

Thanks

So the 'S' on top probably stands for 'Sports', but why.
