Coker ridiculous shipping charges??
I called Coker to order 2 Firestone 700-16 Blackwall tires and almost fell on the floor with their shipping charges...Fedex...$81.51 to ship two tires from them to Champlain NY. Is it me that out of touch with the world...or is the world going NUTS. It seems that they only ship Fedex...period.....I told the sales person that they are going to loose a lot of business....but....I would have no tires.

Re: Coker ridiculous shipping charges??
You can probably get the same tire from Universal Tires in Hershey , PA I just bought 5 tires from them and the shipping was not that high. They are also closer to NY and might be cheaper because of that.

Re: Coker ridiculous shipping charges??
While FedEx is more than UPS I think now days this is what we are going to have to get used to. The problem is the ridiculously high fuel prices we now accept as normal. I don't think people understand that along with high fuel prices come higher shipping and product prices. These companies have to make a profit and the fuel surcharge is passed on to us the consumer. I can't understand why we were outraged by $3.00 gas 8 years ago but now we accept it.

Re: Coker ridiculous shipping charges??
Fibber, gasoline prices, adjusted for inflation, are not much higher than in 1939. A gallon of 21 cent 1939 gasoline would be roughly $3.50 in today's money. I paid $3.57 a gallon in NW Indiana last week.
I think it was about $109 in shipping for Coker to ship four 6.0x16 tires from Tenn to the Chicago area. Guys, these companies can't ship for free. Last edited by TonyM; 04-01-2014 at 04:04 PM. |

Go over to the HAMB and become an alliance member for $50.00 a year and you will get discounts from Coker and many other manufactures. It's a hell of a deal!

Re: Coker ridiculous shipping charges??
Thanks V12Bill...I'll call Universal tomorrow...they close at 5 pm.....I'll report back on their shipping charges....the tire price is tha same as what Coker quoted.
I have ordered tires from other before...heavy 20" radials, and the shipping charge is closer to $25. each...not $41. Prices in fuel has not gone up in the last year. Steaming Me. |

Re: Coker ridiculous shipping charges??
I'll bet shipping charges aren't either but during the 80s and 90s you had a massive increase in "mail order" shipping due to the internet and very cheap shipping but now that's gone. What I'm saying is this is the new normal and if your happy that's fine but for some reason 8 years ago it was " big oils" fault and today I don't know whose fault it is but I guarantee you that the shipping companies don't have an OPEC and are trying to ship for the lowest price to get business but still make a profit.

Re: Coker ridiculous shipping charges??
I bought my last set of Coker Excelsior Spal radials from Jegs. They say free freight but each tire had a 9.99 freight surcharge?

I switched to Summit Racing for my Coker tires last year since they charge no shipping.

Re: Coker ridiculous shipping charges??
Diamond Back charged me $93.00 for 4 www radial tires that I received last week from Conway, S.C. to Rochester, NY (797 miles, according to Google Maps). I got them in 2-weeks from date of order, mounted them and every tire ran well within 1/16" run out.

Re: Coker ridiculous shipping charges??
I like Universal Tire. Closer to me in NE. Good folks. Tire Rack charges, on average $14.00 to ship a tire so compare that to Coker. The Rack does not carry the old type stuff yet, but the prices are very reasonable.
