Engine installing question.
I know Les Andrews says the accelerator linkage is to be removed and I think not placed back on until the engine is in place.Does it get in the way of the firewall or can it be left in place? I put it on with the horseshims to get a good reading with my dial indicator so I kinda thought it would be good to leave it in place. Les only tells you to torque the four bolts not the six which would include the accelerator bolts.

Re: Engine installing question.
Good afternoon...Yes, it is easy to take off (two bolts) after the floor boards are out. Give it a good soaking and cleaning and then after it is back in, give it a drop or two of oil every six months or so...in both locations. Have a great Model 'A' Day. Ernie in Arizona

Re: Engine installing question.
Much easier off , otherwise it is at risk for hitting firewall and being a menace.
Two bolts off and when you put back in place make sure the pedal accelerator is down and with a little tension and slip into plave. Just tighten the bolts tight with shimmed already in place and you should be fine Larry Shepard |

Re: Engine installing question.
One issue with installing the engine with the accelerator linkage attached is the potential for having the linkage bent or twisted due to contact with the firewall while the engine is being maneuvered into position. The engine won't be affected but the linkage assembly is easily damaged when attached to a moving 400 plus pound mass.
