Default Electric pump backup

I decided to install a switched Carter P60504 electrc pump to back up my stock mechanical pump. The car sat for two days and I took the top off of the front carb to see how fast the half emplty carb would refill. It took only a few seconds to top out. That will save the excess grindng of the starter.

think about putting a phenolic block under carb, 3/4 " or so, keeps carb cooler and wont boil fuel out of carb after shut down from a long run, aluminum intakes see to be the worst about transferring heat to carb, i think cast iron is a better choice, as far as the electric fuel pump goes get a switch that is normanly off, it turns the switch off when you ley go of the on lever, that way you wont have it on all the time, and i would suggest wiring the elect pump to the
key switch so no power to pump when key is off, you never can be to safe with an electric fuel pump

I do have 3/8 inch walnut spacers under the carbs with gasket on top and bottom. Wood doesn't transfer heat as much as metal. The switch is manually operated thru the fuse box that is acc. or on only. Used a no. 3 fuse as stated in the directions.

those work as long as the problem isnt heat boiling the fuel out of the carb, keeping the carb as cool as posible is the best remedy for boiling fuel and empty carb

I put a phonelic spacer under my carb to try to prevent the smell of gas every time I park in the garage after a run. Didn't work for me. Still have to throw a wet rag on the carb to keep the gas from boiling in it.

do you have the heat transfer cross over passage in manifold right behind carb plugged? un less you live in north dakota or miniapolis its not needed, its there to help carb heat up quickly in freezing weather,
