Default faux spare trunk latch 53 convetible

I'm helping a friend with his '53 convertible. It has a white Faux continental spare on the trunk. Is this a Ford option, or aftermarket? I have seen images of 53's with this same accessory. There is some hardware missing to open the trunk. Lift the hubcap on the spare, and there should be some sort of latch to open it. It is missing. Someone in the past has attached a piece of wire to be pulled to open the trunk. It works okay, but we would like it correct. Anybody have any pictures, schematic, or the correct parts?
How is this setup locked? it doesn't look like it had a key

The faux spare was a Ford option. It was called Coronado Kit if I remember correctly. Available on 52-54 Fords. I have seen these but can't help on the latch. Look up the name - it may help you (google)

You might find what you need here for the 'Coronado Kit' your friend has installed.

the link above is to Ebay, and they want $9.50 for it - same thing from Mac's is only $6.50
Now that I know what I am looking for I did find an image os a badly corroded latch that had a key lock - make sense. May have to stick with the wire pull, they appearr to be unobtainium

Hi, I have a '53 with a Coronado Kit installed, it also has the wire for opening. I have bought a used trunk handle with a key that I intend to modify by cutting then ends off and installing under the flap to create a locking mechanism - as per the second pic below, the handle I have is not as corroded as the one in the picture. Hopefully this will work for me.
