You might take the parts to the shop that cut the glass and have them put it together.

Use any good lubricant on the hinge.

Fred,
I used the white litium (sp) grease on the hinge.
If you painted the frame then chase all of the threads first.
The bedding material is flat so I folded it over the edge of the glass and then taped it in place. Then miter the bottom corners of the bedding material. I used RuGlide to help the bedding slide into the frame. With the glass in the frame bottom then miter the top corners. I would also think about buying a new set of screws.
After all is assembled then take a thin piece of metal, place it against the frame; to protect the paint and as a distance guide; and use an x-acto knife to trim the bedding material.

Two pieces of 2x4, 2' long with slots 1/4" wide cut in the center about 1" deep. Setting tape completely around the glass, one joint, centered at the top of the glass. Set the glass in the slots, top or straight side down. The frame is tapered, will slide on with a little water/dish soap lube. When fully seated turn the assembly upright and install the top section. This worked quite well for a 31 WS, not sure about other years. Trim the excess tape with razor blade and exacto knofe. No damage to the paint on the frame.

i have a question to go along with this question
who sells the best windshield setting rubber material? preferably the thicker material
I've tried the thinner stuff, will not stay in place with new style glass which is thinner than NOS

Terry,
I found a local glass shop that had a couple of sizes (thickness) and he sold it to me by the foot.

For the relatively inexpensive fee the glass shop charges to cut the glass and install it, I went with them rather than experimenting with different thicknesses of setting rubber and taking the risk of breaking the glass.

Thats what i did the first one they put a chip in it and charged me anyway then after it cracked they would not cover it
So i went with another glass company that cut and set all was good but now the rubber is dropping down and window is loose
I know they will redo it but, I'm just trying to find the thicker setting rubber
