It actually gets better, my friend Don (who was also at the breakfast), had lost a hubcap off of his '37 lowboy a couple of weeks ago, on the same road he took to go home after the breakfast club. He called me about an hour ago and told me he spotted a reflection from the sun on the side of the road, pulled over and actually found the hubcap!!! Looks like we're both going to buy LOTTO tickets this afternoon...

I got a phone call from a guy, in one of the local area car clubs, this afternoon. He is mostly into Chevy stuff but somehow he got a '50 Merc 8CM with the three speed O/D transmission. the heads are off and there is a lot of surface rust, the pan had been removed and was held in place by two bolts, I pulled the pan to check the crank and could hardly see it through all the sludge... Everything else, carb, starter, gen, bell housing, oil filter canister, etc. is there as well. He is looking to sell it so, before I make an offer (for basically a pig in a poke), I thought I'd ask the loaded question here... Without being able to really inspect the block, etc. what would you guys think its worth...?

No more than $300.00. Too much is unknown. You might only end up with engine internals an OD trans case. A pig in a poke is the right description. Good luck if you go for it.

Chuck, $300.00 is just about the number I was thinking as my top offer... We'll see.

I just got this photo from my daughter, it's my grandson Evan, the newest, youngest and second best looking LOL... member of the Cigar City Flatheads. Thanks to John's (oldford2) wife Barb for making the shirt.

That is a good-looking kid. It looks like he is about to crack a smile. Just to be healthy is a blessing.

We might have to vote on who is the better looking member to get an unbiased opinion.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow and a chance to get back into the garage to play with Flatheads. I've still got to install the "new" radiator in the '51 F-1 and I'm hopping that the coil and water pumps for the '39 LZ come back from Skip today so we can install them as well.

I just retrieved from the cobwebbed zone a name I had been reaching for: Damper Dudes. I used to see their adverts in Hemmings or Old Cars. I Bing'd them and found www.damperdudes.net in Anderson CA. Part of their business is rebuilding harmonic dampeners for old and classic cars. You ought to give them a ring to see if they might sove your prob on 39 LZ............Bob L
