Take away the label and most likely all you have is an automotive engine with a few do-dads added.

I had an industrial Ford 8BA engine. It came from a warehouse in Oakland, CA and ran all day long driving a man-lift type of elevator (like a continuous ladder). When it finally failed, after many years of use, it was replaced with another engine of different mfg., because no one knew how to fix it.
It ran at about 1000 rpm all day.

What do you want to know?, if it's a flathead V8 it can be rebuilt with off the shelf parts, it probably has a governor like some tractor models, a picture of the entire engine would be beneficial.

If the heads are original it looks like an 8BA car engine '49 vintage with truck water pumps and oil pan.

Also on bell housing, there's a cast number B1093, no tell tale numbers on intake deck, except 51 and 27 with circles around them, I presume they are some sort of signature or builder I.d. they're on each side

The main key is the 8R on the plate...'48-9 Ford engine in commercial dress, pan and pumps, etc.
The extra letters in that prefix presumably ID it as industrial and exactly what it came with...they could be sold with no trans, 3 or 4 speed, different clutches depending on the needs of the equipment manufacturer buying it.

For $500 I would want to pull the heads. Check for cracks, bore size, etc.

Yep, took heads off to make sure it wasn't cracked, all the valves operate the way they should, all that's wrong with it is no intake (using on another flathead) and the water pumps are locked up. I am in iowa

Did that, everything's seems to be in working order, except water pumps are locked up

$500 is fair. The cheapskates will tell you its overpriced. Don't worry about the locked up waterpumps. Modern pumps are not that expensive.

Hi all; Please save that heater water valve, the correct ones are not available, although you can rob the stem and gland nut from a verticle napa part. Newc
