Default Ideal I.D. for a lifter bore?

I am cleaning up an older block and have a new set of adjustable lifters that I would like to use. The original solid lifters seem a "little" loose to me and the new adjustable lifters feel about the same. In an ideal world, what should the lifter to bore clearance be - what was a new blocks lifter bore I.D. and what should the lifters be now? Thanks,

Stock lifter bore was .5940-.5945. Snyders sells oversize lifters. You may get a difference of opinion on clearance. The stock lifter was .5925-.5935, so tolerance was .0005-.002.
