Default Starting Problem

Hi, I have a 31 tudor that was my grandpa's car and been trying to get it started. I replaced all the wiring, the coil, and points but still no luck. When the engine turns over it does so very slowly. Do you think the starter is dead ?

Did you replace the battery cables? Late model cables are way to small for 6 volts. Pictures of your setup will help. Welcome, Gary

Read the voltage at the starter switch while the engine is being cranked.

Your car is fine. Quit buying parts and changing things around. Trouble shoot your ignition system and fix it. Join a local club and get the Les Andrews red book. Charge your battery and make sure you have he 6 volt cables.

Where did you buy the cables, and are you sure they are at least 00 ought? Also do you have a good grd wire to the engine. A good way is from tranny cover to the frame.

Change one thing at a time, then assess the result.
Be systematic.
start a log of anything you do to the vehicle. This record should remain with the car.
Look for a local source of advice, and join a local club.
