Default 1939 New York video

Not model A related, but thought everyone might like to see New York City in COLOR during 1939. My favorite part was the street vendor selling pina colada's for 5 cents. Enjoy!

Some things never change! They still have those double-decker tour buses driving by Rockefeller Center, full of tourists gawking at the skyscrapers.

Did you know that before it was fully built out, Rockefeller center had a parking lot? Look at the photo at the bottom of this page:

This book is a very interesting read. It was a spinoff of the famous "Futurama" exhibit at the 1939 World's Fair.

Nice video and nice cars. I didn't see many Model A's though. Surprising.

I was born in 1944,in NJ and I recall very few Mod. As growing up. Two old AA Farm trucks on the family farm, that was all. They were a rare site by that time in NJ. Yet there were plenty of prewar cars around, Just not As. I think it was due to a little more affluence in the NY,NJ area. By 1939, most had been replaced.

Think I spotted a 1931 Model AA truck at 47 - 48 seconds on the right side of the screen. You have to watch fast and be ready to hit the pause button.
