Default Varco Model A luggage rack on Ebay

There is a NOS Varco luggage rack on Ebay. Is this more what the original ones looked like in 1929 or so? No wood slats, says it was a 1980's repro item.

It sold quick but they are still made available at Varco and now powder coated.I just think the wood slat ones look better but I just wanted to know if this was a correct one.

I have an original rack on my 29 Roadster which folds in two and is deeper than the slatted racks. The trunk that fits it is a good couple inches deeper than the narrower one I have on my 30 Town Sedan which has the slatted rack. Apparently the racks offered today are very good copies, the main difference being the slats on original narrow racks were actually painted metal.

If you do a search on Varco Trunks you will get the company who still reproduces the rack but is now powder coated black instead of painted. The trunks they sell for Model A Fords arecovered metal not like the ones Snyders and Brattons sells and more expensive
