Default steering wheel knob?

Does anyone know if it's possible to take the knob off of an aftermarket suicide steering wheel knob for use as a shifter knob? Modifications required? I don't have one or I'd take it apart myself to find out.

any thing can be done, but why do it, you ruin a brody knob, you have to take it apart, drill a hole then thread it for an insert that has the right thread count for the shifter lever, why not just buy one already done? there cheap and come in all kinds of shapes, colors and materials

I don't want anything modern, that's why. I'd hate to ruin a $80 suicide knob that I found, if it won't work, which is why I asked.
