Exclamation Radiator car repair kit

I bought the repair kit for a 1935 gas cap. It did not come with instructions and I can only guess as to how it's used. Can someone enlighten me? Thanks

The 35 radiator cap is riveted together and considered non repairable. The gas cap is also riveted together. Bob Drake makes very nice replacements for the radiator cap $$ but it has a brass rivet in the center which is 36 the 35 has a steel rivet. The gas cap is not reproduced since it is non vented, but Drake does have a vented cap that does look original. The repair kits I have seen are for the 33-34 car and commercial radiator cap and 35 Commercial cap, not the car in 35. If your looking for a lower cost replacement I believe an aftermarket cap was made by Everseal R-1 but it does not have the bail on the top.

Still trying to figure out how the title of this post went from a radiator cap to a gas cap?

Sorry, should be radiator cap, NOT gas cap. My mistake. Also realize the kit I have is not for a '35. Probably why I can't figure out how it would work.
Thanks for all the comments.
Will have to look at what Bob Drake carries and try that.

That is great info. The rad. cap on this '35 has a brass rivet, but who know if it has been repaired. I will check out the Everseal R-1 and the Drake cap. This is for my friend's car and I think the replacement was $50. but every supplier he checked was out of stock.
Thanks for the help.

Check with other V-8 parts vendors in addition to Drake in the event Drake is out of stock.

Thanks for all of your comments and suggestions. I found 3-4 Everseal R-! caps for sale on eBay ranging from $16. to $39. The caps look good, except for no bail and a perimeter embossment. But my friend who owns this '35 isn't that fussy. I'm doing my best to keep him as close to OEM as I can but so far Drake's lists the part as "Sold out". Not sure what that means for the future.
