Default 1929 AA Truck flat bed puzzle .

The flatbed on my truck has been narrowed by 6" . This would not have been an easy job the 5 steel cross sill were cropped 3" each side and rewelded back in . The front cross pockets were repositioned and welded back on . The 4 rear pockets have been removed . I cannot think why somebody take all this trouble , narrow access ??? Some county or state law for cheaper road taxes ???

I have nothing to say about a country that still drives on the wrong side of the road!

This is a farm truck from California !!! 1/3 of the world still drive on the left . It comes from when you were armed and riding a horse so when you met another horseman your sword arm was on his side . Early gunslingers in the Wild West were all left handed

Probably used to haul orange crates or other fruit boxes. The approach to many of the packing houses or at least the ones that used to exist in my area were narrow. They didn't leave much room for the trucks to pull up and unload. A friend had his dad's '41 1 1/2 that his dad bought new to haul the oranges from his grove. The right front fender was pretty much destroyed from his dad getting as close to possible to the right side of the loading ramp.

I agree with grove truck. The bed on the one I have is 69 3/4" wide.
The picture is similar to the one I have.

Thank you very much !!! The "Grove Truck" has to be the answer for sure . The factory width is 73 1/4 " my truck is 67 1/4 " so a 6" crop . All 4 rear stake bed pockets had been removed and the lower part of 2 hinges fitted . I was going to find and fit the missing pockets and remove the hinge parts but now I will keep it as it is ,a piece of history .

John in no oranges here Suffolk County England .

I'll measure one of my old orange boxes to see how they would fit on your bed. Now a days they use large plastic palletized crates for oranges. The wooden boxes are a thing of the past.

Boxes measure 26x13 so 3 length wise like shown in the photo would be be 78 inches. If they were loaded the other way 5 boxes side by side would total 65 inches.

The boxes shown in being loaded onto the truck are from the Yorba Linda Citrus Association in Orange County, CA

TT's were same as AA's (well other way around really...) the only difference is the model AA frame tapers out from the front while the TT is parallel. Its not super uncommon to find a TT bed on an AA.

How about a country that still uses feet and inches, miles, pounds and Fahrenheit temperatures?
