Default Hate when this happens

I finally spent a whole day in the shop yesterday and it felt good. I'm behind schedule and I know it. Electrical issues with my trusty lathe, should be running today. I'm working on orders that arrived 4/12 - 4/14....once the lathe is back up and running I plan to finish the latest batch of sbc/8BA distributors
Thanks for your
patience,
Charlie ny

Don't let it get you. I usually have to fix something to fix something.

Thanks Randy

Dumb question to some maybe? But do these Chevy conversion dizzys work on 6volt pos ground too? And roughly how much are they? And do I need to find a core? Fighting with stock 8ba condenser dieing. 2 in the last 30 days. Do I keep stock? Go with Pertronix? Or the Chevy con version is my question?
Tks. Randy

Distributors don't care about voltages or polarity; coils do. I would check with "Charlie ny" on the price and core requirements. If you plan on running a strictly stock engine forever, I properly set up "Load-a-matic" will be just fine. If you are considering any mods to the engine (particularly carburation), a converted SBC-type distributor is a must. If you are going to stay with 6 volts, stay away from Pertronix units as they are notoriously unreliable. I personally would not use a Pertronix even with 12 volts, but that's just me.

If you are going for a conversion, you may want to consider having an aftermarket "racing" distributor converted. I had Charlie do a Mallory dual point for me that works just fine. In my opinion, they look more appropriate in one of these engines than a late model GM unit. I guess the conversion is a little easier, too. You may be able to find an aftermarket distributor made for a flathead, but they tend to be expensive.

What Tubman said. Since you are running strictly stock motor, there's no reason to spend the money change what you have. By chance is the coil wired backwards?
