Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
We've had a week of much needed rain here in central Florida but, the sun is out today and there is only a 10% chance of rain. We are going to a Kentucky Derby event at Tampa Bay Downs this afternoon and, if the sun keeps shining, I think we'll drive the '39 CS to the track... I hope you all get a chance to get your car/truck out for some fun this weekend.

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
Vic what a great example of the 39 you have there!
I am looking forward to getting my 41 back in 3 weeks - it is getting a full interior redo - back to the look my Grandpa gave it after WWII - it is a very tastful soupped up period car, amnd I am returning it to its late 46/47 appearance - will post a pic when done. Have fun John |

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
Thanks John, I appreciate that. I still have to have the interior redone in the '39 CS; I'm not going with the original style but doing a 50's style tu-tone (burgundy/tan or chocolate/ tan tuck-n-roll) I haven't decided yet on the color scheme... The exterior color is a 2005 Porsche color, black cherry metallic.

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
B-O-B, you almost got it right but, no hat or cigar for me at the track... I did wear the plad jacket... Here's a photo of my wife just before we left for the track...
I didn't want to stay all day... too much like work for me... Someone took a photo of both of us using my wife's I phone... if I can get it on the computer I'll post it... I hope everyone else had a nice "Derby Day"

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
B-O-B, I don't know about the Mint Juleps... the hardest thing I drink is Root Beer... Sherrie was going to get a Mint Julep but we wondered around the track a bit and decided to head for home before she had a chance to sample one...

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
Damn that is just awful. You could have stuck around long enough for her to have one. JEEZ Don'tcha know root beer is bad for your health. Only thing it is good for is root beer floats. Krigger & goldencents finished waaay in the rear. Now I see why I don't bet on nags.
Been wanting to go for a ride in the roadster but my back is killin me. Ah the golden years. |

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
B-O-B, I was rummaging through some storage boxes and came across several Polaroid’s documenting my two year career in the Army however, I don't have a scanner so I'll forego posting those telling photographs... I took the '39 CS out for a drive earlier today (after she sat neglected, for almost three weeks, in the garage) I noticed some hesitation when accelerating... I'm thinking it has to do with the "corn" gas so... I stopped at the local auto parts store and picked up a bottle of Sea Foam to add to the gas in the tank... On the short ride home I did see a modicum of improvement... guess I'll have to go for another ride in a bit to see if the hesitation has been alleviated.

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
The Pause the Refreshes...
No, I'm not talking about Coca Cola; I'm talking about Sea Foam Gas Additive. After sitting idle for several weeks, the '39 CS, '39 LZ and '53 F-100 Panel Truck were all suffering with the "Corn Gas Blues" , hard starting and rough running, from gas that had been sitting in the tanks... A can of Sea Foam and topping off the tanks with fresh Corn Gas of the 10% ethanol Varity cleared things up in each vehicle... I wish I could figure out a way to drive more than one at a time so I wouldn't have to let them sit for too long, as this corn gas goes bad quickly...

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
I don't know about you!!! I put seafoam or marine grade sta-bil & MMO each fall & most everytime I fill up. My cars set for 6 months without the engines ever turning over . Come time to start them I check the fluids & refresh the battery, turn the key & after just a very few revolutions they start right up. I did pull the plugs on the 350 in the roadster as I was going to adjust the valves & they had a greenish tint on the porcelain. Maybe I should have left it alone & planted the plugs to grow some corn! heh heh he The engine did run just fine tho. The farmers co-op in town dishes out non ethanol in their premium @ 3.87 a gal so I gave the ole boy a treat taday. Most time it just gets low grade corn oil for $3.59 as of today.

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
You guys are lucky / you at least have a choise / Up here we are so STUPID we need the
people in POWER to tell us what we need to use in our life. Boy it sure makes it easy though, they tell you what line to get in & when all is said and done ,you don't even have any EXPENDABLE income to spend they have done all that for us. I am so glad I don't have to choise what type gas I want to use, makes it so much easer. Last edited by BILL WZOREK; 05-11-2013 at 03:52 AM. Reason: Words ran together |

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
I got a call from a friend of mine, he is cleaning out his garage and wanted to know if I would like two "early" Flathead blocks, etc. We will be driving over to his shop this Saturday to pick them up.
