Default F-1 Exhaust

Just thought i would ask... What size diameter pipes should be used with a stock 8BA? I'm using 1 3/4 and seems to me kinda small. I'm running a Smithy type muffler that exits just before rear end and it seems real quiet. Im not looking for the sound of a 500 Horse Big block ,just a little more roar!

Dual 1 3/4 is good enough to let the motor breathe.
Soundwise bigger pipes and some mufflers will get you that low note sound.
Its basicly about how many times the sound hits a wall and reflects so bigger space gives less hits on the way out.
Then add a bit of damping to get the high frequency kept in a reasonable level.

1 3/4" are plenty big enough.
FYI, 1 3/4 straight pipes on my F1.......
A little to loud so I'm adding 18" Brockman mufflers.
If you are doing he work yourself try w/o mufflers before you weld it up if you want a little more rumble.

I have 1 3/4" headers on my F1 that empty into 2" straight pipes. I like the sound or maybe I've just gotten used to the rumble.

I have had two sets of modern Smithy's fall apart (daily driver driven hard) so I'm going without.

1-3/4" was stock on the trucks. I have some NOSR tail pipes if anyone is near Conn and wants to buy one.
