Default 2nd gear grind

my 1948 ford grinds grinds going into second gear why,

There are several possibilities. Clutch condition and adjustment, Problems with the second gear bushing, problems with the rear blocker ring, or problems with general overall wear to name a few. Is this a car or pickup transmission?
