Default number of posts

I was just wondering why I can not click on anyone's links with any success? I have been a member on the forum for a few years now and it always worked after I had several posts but since I got my current PC a couple years a go I have had no luck. It's like I'm starting all over from square one. Sorry I didn't know where to post this so I did it here. Jim

He must be both if he was able to post under his handle.

I am always logged in simply so I don't have to worry about forgetting my info. I could always click on links but just since I replaced my PC I think The Barn recognized me as a new member. I have felt out in the cold since I can't fully participate. I was hoping someone in charge would let be back in. It would make me a happy camper. Jim

skeazle, what kind of "links" are you talking about? Can you give an example?

I'm not an Admin, but I am reasonably tech savvy.

You're as "in" as the site can let you be - you're able to log in and post. It sounds to me like a browser compatibility/setting issue. Browser settings affect how your computer responds to links; open in same tab, open new tab, etc.

Are you trying to reply to an ad? If so you need to send a PM or email to the seller not posting a reply to the ad. The only other links I could think of would be someone posting a link to something off site such as another web address.

If you can post a question and reply, there would be no reason you can't reply to others, unless you think you are signed in but are not when you try. If you can not see your name on the right side in the box, you are not signed in.

PC or Mac? What browser? Cookies enabled? Is the browser set up to stop connections to suspect or suspicious sites?

I get automatically signed out if I take too long for a post or take too long for some other reason.

I mean like when someone has a post up and they have a name or place you can click on to let you go to it. I don't know how else to explain it.

Here is a link to a 1931 Town Sedan for sale on Ebay.

Can you click on it? Does it open an Ebay page?

I clicked on the link and immediately got the eBay page.
But -- I'm on my probably 10 years old Kindle Fire.
I have a new iPhone 11 that I haven't learned yet, not going to try it ;-(

I don't use Firefox, so someone else will have to chime in. Or you could try using Edge or Chrome and see what happens.

Go into settings on Firefox and look for a section on how to handle links.

Or try right clicking on the link, and see what options it gives you.

I use Firefox too and the link worked. However there are a lot of security features in Firefox that may be causing the issue. Also the ad blocker may be the issue. Try turning off the ad blocker first and if that does not work try changing the Firefox sttings. Firefox has a link to change the settings in the upper right. it is 3 horizontal lines. Click on that then Settings then Privacy and Security. Try changing some of the settings there.

If possible, ask a neighborhood kid who spends all day on a computer to help.
