Default 33/34 OEM roadster panel gap

I have a repo cowl piece and a OMEM inner fender panel. There is a gap between the rear end of the inner fender panel and the front edge of the cowl. This is right under the hood at the rear lower corners. On my fordor there is no gap, the two parts butt up tight. The roadster gap is about 1/2 to 3/4 inch. Can anyone confirm that a true OEM does or does not have this gap on the roadsters?

There should be a slight gap as the two are not attached to one another, but not a 1/2" or more. If they touch that's a sure source for squeaks.

My roadster has a very small gap. All pieces are original except the very bottom belt line on the cowl was rust repaired. This is the only picture I have, but you can see they meet very close together. I can adjust them so they touch, but like David said they may squeek
