roadster top treatment?
bought a roadster in the spring and top was installed by LeBarron in the early 70s
question is, Im getting mold spots on the edges and wondering what to clean them off with and should I use a silicone spray to reseal? dont want to use bleach on the material, for fear of destroying it, so what cleaner is suggested? top still looks good, but car is stored under a carport till real cold winter comes. I want to drive the car regularly. top is tan. |

Re: roadster top treatment?
Spray the entire top with Simple Green and use a fine but firm brush. The brush will raise the nap and make it look good and the SG will clean it.

Re: roadster top treatment?
thank you old31, what I was thinking, but what can I use to coat it after to keep the mold form reforming?
will silicone spray hurt the canvas? this top is old, but looks great. |

Re: roadster top treatment?
I Would go to a fabric shop [where they do restorations] and ask them, i had a top put on my 31 and was told not to seal it. He [she] can tell you what to clean it with, if you use simple green i would only test it on a small spot..hope this works for you.
If you do use simple green and it works please let us know.. |

Re: roadster top treatment?
303 products look promising. I have used tough stuff for years but the latest can seems to have a chemical change and smells different. I would stay away from silicone based products.

I use twice/year a very thin silicone spray. I massage it with a soft brush on the roof skin surface. Works pretty!
