Default Universal Joint Connection

When I install my motor and transmission I will be doing it together. My question is about the "Inner Cover" around the universal joint as illustrated in Les Andrews book. This cover has two holes in it and I was wondering if these holes are located side to side or top to bottom?
Thanks for your time.

Position it so the holes are at 3 and 9

I didn't know which way the holes should be when I assembled my u-joint. I ended up putting the holes at 3 and 9 o'clock as suggested above. Don/WI

The general consensus is to put the holes at 3 & 9 oclock but in reality it doesnt make any difference. In any event, the early inner ball caps will only fit one way due to uneven bolt spacing.
