Questions regarding 30 body, frame, 32 frame.
I have a few questions regarding frames, the inter changeability of frames between the 30 and 32 coupes. From what I have seen, the 30 and 32 frames are completely different with the 32 frame being more of a typical frame to the 35 thru 40 type. I am also looking for sources for rather exacting dimensions for the 30 coupe, 32 coupe and the 32 frame. Any source help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Frank the Plumber

Re: Questions regarding 30 body, frame, 32 frame.
Go to the tech section of the Wescott Fiberglass body company website. They have dimensional sketches of Model A, 1932, and 1932 altered to fit an A better frames online.
If you figure out where the firewall area of esch is you can then line them up for a better understanding of the differences. Model A perches on a frame that is much narrower than body, but the outer edge of the body is pretty close to the shape of a '32 frame. Model A frame is also very short, ending at rear axle. |

Thanks Bruce, is it common and or an accepted practice to run a 30 body on a 32 type frame? I am looking to do something out of the ordinary, I believe the 32 frame can be detailed nicer than a 30, I've had my nose in a lot of Bass threads as of late.

I would not call a 30 body on a 32 frame out of the ordinary, this goes way back to pre war and post war hot rods. very common practice to use a 32 frame under any Model A Dave

It kinda fits ok, you have to slightly section the front body mounts at the cowl and remove the rear floor area for the 32 frame kickup, but lots have been done over the last 60-odd years. Mine was probably easier in that i did not have a floor anyway so I could fabricate to suit. If you visit my website www.martsrods.com and go to the Old Rusty link you will find some buildup details.
