Default tire and running board dressing

I've used Armor All Low-Gloss on the rubber on my cars for years. I don't know about the protective qualities of it, but I liked the looks of it on rubber. I can't find it now, and it isn't listed in Armor all products.

What is available now that will give a comparable low-gloss finish? I DON'T want the shiney stuff, it looks fake to me. I'm trying to avoid buying a bunch of stuff just to try it. Does anyone have a recommendation for a product that will leave a nice, dark, matt finish?

Thanks, Gene

Hi Gene, I've used a product called "Back to Black" on the running boards on the ’39 CS, etc. and it does a nice job, more of a matt finish like OEM. Vic

Soapy water and a moderately stiff brush, plus a little elbow grease works great for me.

Many of these products contain silicone and I would not put anything with silicone near an old car. Silicone based products look good initially but the long term effect is not desirable IMHO. For rubber I use good old fashioned Kiwi shoe polish and a little elbow grease.

Black stove polish, one bottle will do two running boards.wipe on let dry and wipe off, with old t shirt or towel.you can get it at Ace hardware.leaves a natural low gloss shine, once a year will work.I use it on my 31 roadster,32 roadster 34 roadster and 40 coupe.
