Default Timing

The rotor inside the distributor has a wide contact. Should the #1 terminal be centered in the rotor contact?
After using the timing pin to find tdc. If someone do I loosen the distributor body to center it?.
Thanks
Dick

No. You loosen the distributor cam to change the timing. At full retard, the trailing edge of the rotor contact should line up with the #1 terminal.

Of course the rotor positioning dictates the firing order. The points opening dictates the absolute timing.

Gap the points before timing via the cam.

Good idea to gap the rotor and the distributor body contacts too.
