Re: 35 coupe w 49Ba
When I looked in my 36 radiators i saw that more than 1/2 the tubes are plugged, they need rodded out ---have you looked down inside your radiator
try a fan (window fan, box fan)in front blowing through to see if that makes a difference |

Re: 35 coupe w 49Ba
Pretty sure radiator is ok. Prior to switching to larger engine it cooled 59ab fine, with stock fan.
As for window fan in front his logic is car will be sitting in much hotter weather in summer and his hood will be on. If engine can’t maintain 180-190 in garage at idle, he will have issues in summer traffic. Keep ideas coming, there very much appreciated

Re: 35 coupe w 49Ba
A shroud on a fan in front of the radiator won't work, just blocks more air. My solution on a '38 with an 8BA was a Cooling Component fan with a shroud in the rear of the radiator. Your '36 should have similar clearance. It only takes 2 7/8" clearance. Mine was tight, but it is in there. We have 95-100 degree days in the summer here, too, and the fan keeps it between 180-195 degrees. It is controlled by a thermo switch that turns it on at 195 degrees.
All electric fans are not equal. Unless it pulls ~2500 CFM, and mounted in the rear of the radiator, it probably isn't sufficient. |

Re: 35 coupe w 49Ba
If adding external fan won't make it cool then the problem is not fan related--- that is why I said use box fant

KURT thx also but he is not adding a fan. The electric fan is all that he has. The stock fan won’t fit in the 35 with the larger engine. The 35 radiator is at angle and there is no room

Re: 35 coupe w 49Ba
It's nice that you are trying to help your friend, but trying to pass information back and forth between him and members here may never get to the root cause of his problem. He may not be that good with computers, but it would be a lot better to.somehow get him hooked up directly here, if only temporarily, so communications could be more direct. Also, some pictures posted on this thread of his actual setup might help us to see something that's not correct.

Re: 35 coupe w 49Ba
I had the same problem in my 32 with a 8BA , my cure was a copper Walker radiator with a 10# pressure cap , never over heats now with mechanical fan .
