Default Cab needed

Hi everyone,
My name is Kevin and I'm from Long Island N.Y. and I'm building my first Model A hotrod(hope none of the purists are mad at me). I all new sheet metal but my cab is bad (door posts and back panel) ....is there anyone out there ...hopefully close to me that may have a lead on a cab?
Thank you very much and looking forward to using the Ford Barn's knowledge.

https://brookvilleroadster.com/store/dealer-locator/

You can buy a nice new roadster pickup cab from Brookville Roadster and then sell what you have to one of us to restore. Win- win for everyone. The above link will get you in contact with your closest Brookville dealer and they will put one right in your driveway. All steel, beautifully made and all parts interchange with original bodies.

In OZ, we have a local builder who remakes the entire 28/9 cab in steel complete with additional boxing plates inside B pillar for seat belt attachment..

He will sell only to a rodder. A friend of mine tried to buy from him when he was converting a roadster P/U to a CC. When the supplier learned that the panels were destined for a standard car, he refused to talk any further about it. Maybe something to do with design rules and regs??? From what I can see, our regulations are far more stringent than in the US.

That really surprises me because our government sure likes to micromanage our lives.

Some states and locations within the state are much better than other places.

If we are talking about the same supplier...Castlemaine Rod Shop, I find that hard to believe .

Maybe the original guy wanted it all as standard .

CRS has a full steel top and no wood.

That's the mob. I think my friend was happy to have the extended cab but it's all history now. He bought one in flat pack form from the US. I believe CRS make a good one though.

I have been on a tour thru the CRS factory .

They had made dies for the doors inner and outer 27 T coupe style.

I would say they make their own full steel top and as you say, extended quarters or stock again prob made inhouse.

I would guess they would outsource from USA the cowl top and sides and firewall .

Where did your friend get his new doors from ?

I doubt CRS would invest 50K in dies if they were available elsewhere.

For a while Howell's sheetmetal was the US source for the 28-29 CC pickup body.

http://www.fordor.com/

This seemingly has changed. Now they pass through Brookville parts?

Here's the HotRod article on the (then 2008) bodies being made down under.

Thanks for the second link.

I have never heard of the roll over valve for the tank.

I did not think he used a cowl tank

Will contact them asap.

No idea! I assumed they came with the kit he bought. I noted in the link above that they say cab parts are available separately. That doesn't fit with what my friend said but like I said, it's history now. Their cabs have a good reputation and I think the extra 6 inches (150mm) would be very welcome to we drivers of today who are larger people than they were in the day. As for the tray, I've seen it shortened and I've seen it moved back. The latter looked a little odd in my opinion.

Yep, they do look odd.

I think 3 inches would be plenty .

At 6 inches I reckon the driver's eyes would be behind the B pillar and he would have to crook his neck every time to see left and right.

I wondered about that too. Maybe a real comfy, thickly padded back rest would help. Most guys with a CCPU try to make the squab as thin as possible to gain a little leg room. Here, we could go the other way.
