Very exciting day and a long time coming. I bought this flathead 15 years ago with plant to build it. About 2 years ago I got the block over to Gary (GOSFAST) for a check, machine work and parts. Along the way I got a distributor from Jim (Bubba's) and took my sweet time putting her together. And a bunch of clutch & trans parts from Mac VanPelt.
This is just a quick shot of starter fluid but she fired right up! Don't worry, I'll get in in the frame before I break it in. Video and before & after shots below. WooHoo - time for a beer! ![]() ~ Carl https://youtu.be/atPgatI6a-I |

Prospect park
![]() I’m from Flatbush, still consider Brooklyn home. You have done well with that flatty. Can’t wait to see it on the road.

To my mind, the best part of this hobby is the initial firing of an engine.
Congratulations. |

I'd like to make a suggestion to all those that rebuild an engine. use a stock carb for the first 50/100 miles. Mustible carbs have a tendency to run rich, and that;'s the last ti\hing you need for breaking in the rings. Yes they look nice, BUT!!

Thank you for that Ron. I am planning to break it in with two carbs blocked until I'm confident everything is working correctly, but it's very good to hear an experienced confirmation.

Thanks! More of a sturdy dolly than a run stand. I hated having the motor on a traditional stand. All that weight on four bolts made me cringe. A short trip to Homedepot and a little sawdust later and I have a dolly that lets me sleep better at night.
