Default A new twist on a flathead

Found this while looking through a magazine. Very cool, his web site: clintneufield.com We always knew flatheads were prone to cracking but this one made out of china is pushing it.

I sat and looked at this pic for several minutes and still could'nt come up with a samrt comment for this one. That took someone with alot of extra time on their hands, great skill, access to everything needed for the process and a love for flatheads. Very interesting. Rod

A brilliant display of craftsmanship that has no useful purpose whatsoever...

This is where the future is going, it will be done by the new 3-D printers.

If it's made to scale it could be very useful for trial fitting engines in different cars.

Well, yes, I agree with Chuck and Vic, that is interesting...

Everyone should look at the images section of the website. Certainly art that had me thinking.

I hope the artist, Clint Neufeld, won't mind me reposting a couple of his creations...

Edit: Added after Fe26's post (below). From the artist's website:

"Clint Neufeld is a sculptor who works with concepts of masculine identity, currently in the form of ceramic transformations of engines and transmissions."

Knowing what it takes to make a molded part and a rudimentary knowledge of ceramics and how they can shrink and warp I'm guessing what you're looking at is ceramic coated parts and not solid vitreous creations.

Website indicates the guy is an artist that got grants from the Canadian government.

Very cool creations nonetheless.

Whoa!!! I hadn't thought of how the masculine dynamic would enter into the Artists creations made from China. My bad Pun (thoughts)would have been along the lines of; here's a guy using China (the medium) to create an automotive feature. Wait until someone in China (the country) copies that and sells it back to you as China from China.

But wait it gets worse: The recipe of making China was stolen from China by some Europeans, now... China gets to sell you a geniune piece of China made from a fake piece of China made from a stolen recipe. So if the Chinese sell you a copy of the Flathead engine you'll have a genuine fake. LOL
