Default No spark to the plugs?

Have an 8BA in my '36 with a Mallory Unilite dizzy & Mallory E series coil. Getting power to the coil and dizzy but something goes wrong from coil to dizzy or dizzy to plugs. Is there a way to check coil wire when cranking the engine?

Funny you should ask, you re-set the curve on the the distributor and it worked perfectly on my test stand, no such luck in the car. Obviously, I've done something wrong but I'm not seeing it. As to why I posted here is because when I posted on the HAMB I couldn't find the response, even when I did a search. So anyway, you have any ideas where I might begin?

Hi there, 36, you posted these problems before on the barn and i suggested some checks to do. Did you do them? How are you testing your voltages, with a digital meter? What readings are you getting ? As bubba has stated your unit maybe already cooked. Fit it back on your test stand (whatever that is ) and test it again. Regards, Kevin.

These electronic ignition question should be banded from here.
First run a wire direct to coil see if it starts, don't use any wiring in car.
That flathead will never turn high enough to break down with points,
Remove your backpack and put the pints back in.

The test stand is an engine test stand, I should have been more precise. Thanks for responding.

19Fordy, thanks, very informative, much of which I don't understand. At this point I think I will box the distributor up and send to BUBBA'S.

The # 30440 coil is the incorrect coil for this unit. That would draw approx 24 amps !!!!

Took reading with analog meter across the coil and got .8 ohms, put the meter on harness coming of distributor for continuity and was in the "Bad" range. Fried something in the distributor? What would be the correct coil?

Got in the new replacement module today. Installed and ran on tester for a extended period of time....
Ready to return to customer, must use a coil and ballast resisitor. Coil and ballast needs to be 1.5 ohm resisitor each....
Using both divides the wattage ( and the heat)......

Although the Mallory paper work doesnt specify a particular ignition coil it does state the following:

Important: Make sure that your vehicle is equipped with an ignition ballast resistor ( or loom resisitor) in the wire between the ignition switch and the coil positive terminal. You may test the voltage while the engine is at idle at the coil positive terminal. If the measured voltage is within 1 volt of the battery voltage, an ignition ballast must be added in the wire from the ignition switch.
