Default 36 5 window gas tank removal

I would like to reove the fuel tank from my 36 coupe for rust remval. IT LOOKS LIKE THE FILLER PIPE HAS TO BE CUT, ARE THERE ANY MORE SUGGESTIONS OR ADVICE. THANKS.

I soaked the locking ring with PB Blaster a few days. Spray, soak overnite, repeat every 24 hrs. Grab ring with spanner wrench and tap with a rubber mallet. Mine came right off. Be patient.

try searching the archives....quite a few posts about removing the filler neck...and the tank.....as dean said, there's a collar around the filler neck which threads onto the tank....cutting is last resort, tho i think you can buy a new filler neck from Drake.....good luck and welcome to the 'Barn....Mike

I had to cut mine to remove it; the threaded collar would not bust loose from the filler neck.
