Default Anyone fit toolboxes to the Pickups?

Hi Fellow A'ers!

When i got my 28 roadster pickup , the old guy who had it before me had built a small wodden toolbox under the tray. Pictures attached.
I am seriously thinking about attaching an old antique shipping crate or something similar to the tray behind the seat just to put groceries and stuff in. I find with the open cab its a bit awkward to leave stuff on the floor or the seat when you want to go into other stores etc.
Do any other pickup owners have lockable boxes mounted to their Model A's?

Thanks

Steve

I have a custom lockable metal storage box under my 28 pickup bed. The guy I bought the truck from did a lot of touring and stored a toolbox, oil, grease and a few other things in it. Very convenient. Just don't forget to close the door before driving off (almost did that once until the wife reminded me).

I just have an old Valvoline wooden case in the bed. I made a lid for it and have felt between the lid and bed to keep it from sliding forward or the lid opening at speed. I have a heavy rubber mat in the bed which helps keeping things from sliding around. No lock, and the whole thing could easily be stolen, but I do very little touring, and have never had a problem.

I've seen a number of pickups with an antique trunk mounted in the bed - looks like a period load. Dunno how they're attached - suppose one could drill through bottom of trunk and bed boards to bolt it down. Reproduction trunk locks are available if it doesn't have one. Wouldn't be waterproof but I doubt anything other than a modern box would be.

Here is what I put it mine. It's just an old wood tool box I picked up at a yard sale. I ran a bolt through the bottom of it on each side and utilized one of the metal floor strip bolt holes so no new hole to drill through the floor. When I remove the box I put the metal strip bolt back in place. Also put a strip of padding under the feet of the box. No harm done.

That looks the part. Nice!

At the Murray Bridge meet I noticed 2 vehicles with ex military amo boxes strung between the front bumper attachment brackets. These supports could be made to lift the amo box off or the whole thing off in the event of needing to hand crank the vehicle. I thought that idea was great and will look to make some for myself in the future.

Here is a picture of my storage drawer under the bed.

Used rear bumper brackets to hold the box, still haven't cut the bumper mounts off, hoping I can find some already cut at a swap meet, so I don't have to mangle these brackets.

The box is also mounted to the substructure of the bed in the back.

Thanks,

I haven't gotten around to putting a lock on it yet. The plan is to use a Rumble seat set up, with a locking handle. Maybe this summer.

I used draw slides that have the self closing feature. That way there is some spring pressure in the slides to hold the drawer closed. So far it hasn't come open un-expectedly.
