Default Trico Wiper Motor Moves Only One Direction

I just finished rebuilding the original Trico motor on my 1930 standard roadster. When I pull out the sliding switch the wiper blade moves to the left and stops. When I push in the sliding switch the wiper blade returns to the opposite side and stops. One of you Model A people can diagnose the problem. Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks.

After rebuilding mine complete with new paddle seals (?) it was quite stiff and needed to be encouraged by manual assistance. Only been a couple of weeks so it still needs encouragement. My next "exercise" for it will be using the vacuum from my shop vacuum to help it to break in.
I will tape one end of some vacuum hose into a small vac nozzle I have for cleaning small crevasses and let the uninterrupted vacuum exercise the unit into smooth operation.
Sound great in theory. Chap

A bit of oil on the leather blade inside, remove line, a couple squirts of a light wt oil-3 in 1 or sewing machine oil works.

Have you tried it with the windshield wet ? When it comes to a wiper it needs water for lube for the blade to flow smoothly. Just a thought

I don't think a shop vac has enough vacuum to run a wiper.
Are you sure the wiper switching mechanism is flipping over when the wiper reaches the end of the stroke?
Also, as John said, the glass should be wet.
